Erin and Amie Gilbertson have spent the last few weeks buying and collecting donations of food and toiletries for the ‘Midlothian Foodbank’ this Christmas. The girls both wanted to help those less fortunate than themselves at this time of the year, and also do something for their local community, so the Foodbank based in Gorebridge was perfect.
Erin (3L1) and Amie (1L1) asked friends, family, neighbours and teachers if they could donate at least one item to the Foodbank this season. Everyone that helped support them were so generous and the girls ended up collecting a staggering six very large boxes, each full to the brim with donations! Yvette from the Foodbank said that the girls were “epic” and had “done amazingly well”.
Pictured with Erin and Amie is Helen, a volunteer at the Foodbank who thanked the girls very much for all their hard work.
Erin and Amie enjoyed the experience of helping the Foodbank so much that they have decided to volunteer their time helping out at the next community food drive.
