Congratulations to Lisa Ferguson, 3D1, who has ended her 2019 season in Highland Dancing with a number of fantastic achievements. With a visit to Northern Ireland, Lisa won 4th runner up in the Championships in October. Then she travelled to Paris in November where she won 3rd in the championship, won the Take us 2 the Magic competition at Disney and was runner up in the Nationals.
Well done Lisa!
Congratulations to Lauren Reidie, 1B1, and Archie Wright, 1D2, who have just completed a very successful run of shows at the Brunton Hall in Musselburgh with amateur theatre group MAMA. This has helped increase their confidence and brought out their creative side whilst making new friends.
Well done Lauren and Archie!

Medic Insight Edinburgh is a completely free-of-charge programme that we (The University of Edinburgh) offers students in years S4 and S5, or equivalent. We are a group of medical students at the University of Edinburgh and we want to give as many school students the opportunity to gain medical work experience as possible. We run a programme which aims to provide these students with an initial insight into medicine and help students, through our events, decide whether or not medicine is a programme of study they may wish to embark upon.
As you will see from our poster below, we offer two events, one aimed at each year group.
S4 Day Event
Medic Insight Day – Saturday 21st March 2020 @ Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh
Applications for this will open on the 10th of January.
The event will consist of talks from medical students and doctors followed by an afternoon of interactive workshops all designed to provide an initial insight into what a career in medicine could look like.
S5 Week Event
Medic Insight Week 1 – Monday 15th June – Friday 19th June 2020
Medic Insight Week 2 – Monday 22nd June – Friday 26th June 2020.
Both weeks @ various sites around Edinburgh and the Lothians.
Applications for this will open on the 17th February and will close on 23rd February. Week applications will be subject to a competitive application process and places will be allocated following marking and will not be issued on a first come first serve basis.
All updates regarding applications will be posted on our website and Facebook page – this is also where the links for applying will become available on the advertised dates.
