Update from the Headteacher – Friday 18 December 2020

Dear Parent/Carer,

As we head towards the end of the most bizarre of years for us all, I would like to thank our families for their unstinting support throughout.  It is quite likely that there will still be challenges that we need to face in the earlier stages of 2021 but there is now light at the end of a very long tunnel.

Dalkeith High School continues to amaze me in the way that it pulls together as a community.  From your responses to appeals to support families experiencing more hardship than others, to raising funds for worthwhile charities, the generosity of our families is immeasurable.  Thank you for your kindness.

Never doubt the impact that your thoughtful words of support have had on staff wellbeing.  It has been a long, hard term for staff but knowing that their efforts are appreciated has helped greatly.  Rest assured, I always take the time to pass on your compliments.

It almost time now to stop, rest and relax.  I hope that our senior pupils in particular will be able to do this at the end of a very intense period of assessments set against the backdrop of uncertainty around assessment processes.  They have been amazing throughout and should be very proud of their efforts.

I wish you and all in your families a happy, restful and safe Christmas with all good wishes for 2021.  I have attached below a few items that may be of help.
