Update from Midlothian Council – Equipped for Learning Programme

29 October 2021

Dear Parents and Carers

The information below contains an important update from Midlothian Council in relation to the Equipped for Learning programme and your child being provided with a Chromebook device. Initially the devices will be rolled out to S4, S5 and S6 pupils. Devices will be deployed for these year groups on the 11th and 12th November.

Further communication will follow at the point of rolling out devices to S1, S2 and S3.

This information also contains an online acknowledgement form that must be completed before your child receives their Chromebook. Please try to complete this as soon as possible. If you have multiple children within S4-S6, please complete the form once for each child.

Previously loaned Chromebooks, supplied by Midlothian Council, should also be returned to ensure all pupils receive the same device. Please ensure these are returned to school on or before the deployment of a device for all pupils.

Update from the Headteacher – 25 October 2021

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope that our families managed to enjoy some rest and relaxation over the holiday period.  We are looking forward to welcoming our pupils back to school tomorrow.

The current advice from the Scottish Government is that all Covid risk mitigations should remain in place for now, including the wearing of face masks by pupils in classrooms unless exempt on medical grounds.  Pupils are strongly encouraged to take a LFD home test to test for asymptomatic Covid cases before returning to school.  A reminder that any member of the school community displaying Covid symptoms should stay at home and book a PCR test.

Catering facilities are still unavailable and pupils should bring a packed lunch with them if staying on the campus.  All S1 pupils are expected to remain on the campus at all times.  Pupils should also bring a water bottle with them that can be refilled throughout the day.

Our weekly newsletter will be issued at the end of the week as usual.

With very best wishes for the busy term ahead,

Allyson Dobson
