Dear Parent/Carer,

Please find below a document prepared by NHS Lothian that aims to clarify specific questions and concerns that have been raised by parents and carers over the past few weeks.

I would like to emphasise that a young person should not attend school if they have any of the following COVID-19 symptoms.

  • A new, continuous cough and/or
  • A fever/ high temperature and/or
  • A change or loss in taste and/or smell

Note: A new, continuous cough means coughing for longer than an hour, or three or more coughing episodes in 24 hours. If you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual.

Coronavirus Update

Dear Parent/Carer,

You will be aware of the advice given by the UK and Scottish governments yesterday regarding steps to take to minimise the spread of the coronavirus, Covid-19.

In accordance with this advice, any pupil who develops a high temperature or cough should self-isolate for a 7 day period.  I would be grateful to all in our school community for following this advice to support the good health of all.  Any pupil who becomes unwell during the course of the school day will be sent home.

You will also be aware of the Scottish government’s advice to cancel all school trips.  Further information regarding this will be shared with you when details of the timeframes involved become clearer.

Below is the statement released by SQA regarding the forthcoming exam diet.

I will keep you up to date with any further news of the impact of the virus on the smooth running of the school as the situation develops.

Thank you for your continued support,
