Welcome to our special transition for 2020!
We are looking forward to welcoming you in person when we are able to, in the meantime we want to reassure you that we are continuing with our transition plans – they just look a little bit different.
We are working hard to make sure that our new S1 pupils will have a transition experience that will make them feel welcome and ready to join us next session.
Our first event will be a Virtual Information Event for parents and pupils which will be launched on our website on Tuesday 9 June. This will have a welcome from Mrs Dobson (Headteacher), a 3D virtual tour of our school and information about support for pupils at Dalkeith High School.
Our second event will be our 2 day Virtual Induction Visit. This will be on Wednesday 10 June and Thursday 11 June. Each day will give pupils the opportunity to find out about the subjects that they will be studying in S1 and complete tasks for each of these subjects. These 2 days will continue to be available on our website after the 11 June.
In addition, we already have our P7-S1 Transition page where you can find lots of information about Dalkeith High School including school uniform. This year we are delighted to let you know that we will be issuing all new S1 pupils with a tie on their first day at Dalkeith High School.
We are working closely with primary school staff and other agencies to engage young people who need additional transition supports. These will be revised and adjusted as the plan for our return to school becomes clearer. Class Lists will be shared at an appropriate time in the future.
We will be launching a dedicated email address for families to contact us should you have any questions – further details of this will follow.
We look forward to you ‘joining’ us in June for our events.
Information will be shared in due course to discuss arrangements for the reopening of the school in accordance with Scottish Government guidelines.
