Managing Stress and Worry: Workshops for Young People – (CAMHS Midlothian)

Our NHS colleagues from the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) are running a two-part workshop for young people, supporting them to manage stress and worry. These sessions focus on helping young people to understand stress and worry and in finding strategies that can help them to manage these feelings.  All secondary school-aged young people are very welcome to join these workshops. The CAMHS team (Kyle, Gemma & Catherine) will deliver these sessions with the opportunity for questions throughout and at the end of the workshop using the Q&A chat function. There is no expectation for attendees to ask questions, they can join and just listen over the hour. Cameras are automatically disabled on Microsoft Teams Live Events so you won’t be on camera during the sessions.

You do not need to register for these workshops, simply join the workshop using the links provided below. Further information can be found on the information sheet attached.

BGE Awards Ceremony – Thursday 9th June at 7pm

The BGE Awards Ceremony will take place on Thursday 9th June at 7pm. The names of pupils who have been nominated for a prize will be displayed on the windows next to the ballerina on Friday 27th May. All those who have been nominated should report to the school for 6.30pm to register before the ceremony commences at 7pm. Pupils should wear school uniform to this event.
Parents and carers will also have an opportunity to explore an achievement village at the school entrance where pupils’ work from across the faculties will be on display. Fabulous outdoor learning and extra curricular activities that the school offers will also be on display. We very much look forward to welcoming pupils and their families back into the school in person to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our S1-S3 pupils.

Update from the Headteacher – Friday 20 May 2022

Dear Parents and Carers,
A reminder that the next meeting of the Parent Council will take place on Wednesday, 25th May, 7-9pm.  This will be the first in-person meeting of the Parent Council since the start of the pandemic and it would be lovely to have as many people as possible attend.  At the meeting we will be discussing attainment, school improvement planning, review of uniform policy and many other items that will be on interest to all.  Please come along and help to shape the direction of travel for our school.  Tea and coffee will be provided!
Also a quick reminder that school will be closed to pupils on Monday, 23rd May.  SQA exams scheduled to take place on that date will operate as normal.
Best wishes,
Allyson Dobson

Developing the Young Workforce Roadshow 2022

Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) Edinburgh, Midlothian and East Lothian are delighted to launch our very first DYW Roadshow.

Following on from the success of previous years’ Jobs Roadshow’s we decided to reimagine how we could bring together employers, further education, higher education, and training providers with the young people in our region to help them find their next step.

DYW Roadshow is set to take place on Thursday 16th June 2022, from 9am-6pm. Venue is still to be confirmed but will most likely be in Edinburgh.  DYW may be able to arrange transport for the pupils but again this is still to be confirmed.  The event will feature a range of organisations from the key sectors across the region and is free for young people, parents, and carers.

You can find out more here:  Find Out More

The event is free to attend. Please speak to myself or your Pupil Support Leader if you would like to attend.
