Skills Development Scotland national webinar for parents and carers on the options and support available for school leavers……info below. I’ll send round the email with marketing info if you are including it in bulletins etc for schools.

As part of Scottish Careers Week, Skills Development Scotland (SDS) has a nationwide online session for parents and carers covering options and support available for school leavers on Wednesday 17 November at 6.30pm.

Parents and carers can find out more about the range of options available for their young person as they prepare to leave school and how parents and carers can support them.

SDS Careers Advisers will be providing expert advice and there will be opportunities for parents and carers to ask questions during the session. Help is also available on SDS’s online home for career information and advice My World of Work.

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Golf Centre Assistant with Melville Golf Centre. This vacancy is supported through the Young Person’s Guarantee with Midlothian Council.

This job would be suitable for anyone who is:
• aged 16-24
• enjoys sports and being outdoors
• likes working with others in a varied role

This is a 12 month contract with 4 weeks trial. Salary will be dependent on age and experience.

Applications for NHS Virtual Work Experience programme are open

Applications for NHS Virtual Work Experience programme are now open, with the next session taking place on the 7th November!

Students will participate in the largest national virtual work experience programme for Nursing, Midwifery, Paramedicine, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Dietetics, Radiography, Prosthetics and Orthotics, Speech and language therapy and Pharmacy! During the work experience day, students will follow 2 patients from their initial presentation to recovery. Students will observe the healthcare professionals as they interact with the patients and each other. Students will have an opportunity to ask questions and gain knowledge through teaching.

This will help students to make an informed career decision as well as learn about how healthcare professionals work together as part of a multidisciplinary team. Each work experience day is completely different. Students will be able to build on their knowledge of NHS careers as they see different patient cases and healthcare professionals work in a variety of settings, such as hospital and community. Students will also receive certificates as evidence of having participated in the work experience programme. Those that complete the entire 6-month programme will be awarded with Highly Commended References too. Students can register individually through the website link below.
