On this page we will post documents that will be useful for parents/carers and P7 pupils to support transition to Dalkeith High School. We know this is a difficult and uncertain time for families and will provide as much information as possible to support the move to High School. We are looking forward to welcoming our new S1.

Classes
At Dalkeith High School you will be put into 2 classes:
Your Register Class will start with a 1 – for first year, then the first letter of your House, then either a 1 or 2 depending on if there are I or 2 first year classes in your House. There will be between 25 and 30 pupils in a Register Class:
The number of classes in each House is dependent on numbers of pupils in each House for the whole school. This is so that the Pupil Support Leaders have similar numbers of pupils to look after.
Practical Sets have a 1 for first year and then a letter A-K. These classes have a maximum of 20 pupils in them and are for practical classes like Home Economics, Science, CDT and Art.
First Few Days
When you start at Dalkeith High School there will be supports in place to help you settle in.
You will line up outside at the beginning of the day, before Period 4 and before Period 6 and senior pupils will take you to your classes.
Senior pupils will take you from class to class so that you can get used to the layout of the school and the one way system.
You will get an early lunch time for the first few weeks so that you can get used to using your new number and get to know what meals are on offer.
What to Bring with you
Cashless System
We have a cashless system at the Campus.
You will get a 6 digit number that you will need to buy things from the canteen.
Money can be added to your account by putting cash into one of the machines in the Dining Hall or by handing in cash or via ParentPay.
